Vehicle Battery Trickle Chargers
Not just for cars! These battery maintainers will trickle charge car, van, motorbike, jet ski, quad bike, and other 12V batteries. You might find a 24V battery charger here too, plus jump starters. The small size of all these devices make them portable and easy to store.
A solar trickle charger contains a small solar panel (less than 10W). This will put a very small charge into your car battery - just sufficient to cover the ongoing power lost through an alarm system for example. This prevents the battery going flat, helping to keep it in good condition during periods when the vehicle is not used.
These devices are kept inside the car and for best results the panel should be flat up against the windscreen where it can get as much sunshine as possible. Some of these solar chargers come with suckers to stick them to the glass.
The simplest way to connect a charger to your battery is through the cigarette lighter socket. Be sure that this is 'live' when your ignition is switched off (you can check this by testing if you can charge a mobile phone).
If you have a boat, van or particularly power-hungry car or 4x4, you can find a more powerful solar car battery charger system in our 12V solar charging kits.
The smaller trickle chargers (with their low current) do not generally require a charge controller, and are not supplied with one. However, if you would like us to add a controller, or you can't see exactly what you need please contact us. We'll be happy to help.
Overall, I'm really impressed.
